today I would like to talk about Jolly Phonics. This is a well-known method to teach kids how to read and write in English. It helps to develop: listening comprehension, speaking skills and improves the vocabulary as well.
Phonics should be part of the teaching plan from year 1 till year. In Jolly Phonics, each sound is introduced with a story and an action, which helps young learners to remember. In addition, we can reinforce it using songs, flash cards, stories...
Before introducing a new song it is important to revise the sounds learned. Some sounds, especially complicated ones, need to be revised in each lesson.
There are 7 group of letter sounds:
